The 2022 JB Active Montrose PS Dream Big Night Challenge
Leading sports goods company JB Active partner with Montrose Primary School delivering Johannesburg’s most powerful primary school cricket and netball night league. Johannesburg – Launching on Friday 28 January 2022, The 2022 JB Active Montrose Dream Big Night Challenge will host 14 Johannesburg based schools as well as two development teams. Having first commenced in 2002, the tournament started as a T20 Day/Night Cricket tournament for the Government and Private schools sector in Johannesburg and in 2011, night netball was added to the festival.
Having run every year since inception, despite the challenges of Covid-19, the event has grown so much so that it is now split into u11 and u13 level, elaborates event organiser Gwen Nelson; “The U13 tournament will take place from 28 January – 18 February over 4 consecutive Fridays. The U11 event will take place in October and November 2022. We have 12 cricket teams and 14 netball teams playing in this year’s tournament and are delighted to confirm that at this stage, we are very much looking forward to welcoming back spectators this year. Whilst we live streamed the 2021 event worldwide with resounding success, we did miss the passionate parents and festive fanfare. We will of course continue with the live streaming of the event, which will be proudly produced by SuperSport Schools on their YouTube channel.”
Head of JB Active, Corne Nell says the three year partnership is one that appealed to the sporting goods company; “The event provides us with a platform on which to engage, support and genuinely make a difference to tomorrow’s superstars. This is not merely a sponsorship, it’s a partnership whereby JB Active aim to provide the players and schools with as many opportunities as possible to perform to the best of their abilities, enjoying the journey as they do so.”
