St Mary’s celebrates its 134th birthday
On Thursday 26 May, Johannesburg’s oldest girls’ school, St Mary’s School, Waverley, celebrated its 134th birthday. The day’s festivities began with the school celebrating the Patronal Eucharist. The Eucharist was followed by a picnic at which the matric girls braaied Pregos and hamburgers. The birthday cake was cut with great ceremony and the school’s well-loved, traditional war cry Oh When the Saints was sung.
