St Teresa’s School Secret Scarves Mission

St Teresa’s School Secret Scarves Mission. For Nelson Mandela Day this year, St Teresa’s Senior Primary School in Rosebank has partnered with 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day for their Secret Scarf Mission to brighten up Keyes Avenue and make woollen scarves available to those in need.
Mrs Susan Symondson, mother to twins Aurelia and Octavia (Grade 5) arranged for wool to be donated to school for this mission. Under the guidance of Grade 5 educator and Needlework Club co-ordinator, Mrs Marianne Bam, the girls have been taught to knit and crochet basic scarfs. They started making scarves at the end of first term in April and have been knitting and crocheting ever since. They have also encouraged family and friends and the High School girls to get involved. This week the Needlework Club and some volunteers tied approximately 150 tags to the scarves received so far and more wool has been delivered to the school for those still wanting to knit a scarf. If anyone in the community would knit and drop off a scarf, we would welcome all contributions towards this worthy cause.
