Deputy Head-Girl of Edenvale High School excel in hockey
Deputy Head-Girl of Edenvale High School, Shanay De Klerk, selected for the South African Schools U18A Hockey Team! Well done to Edenvale High School learner Shanay De Klerk who has been selected for the South African Schools U18A Hockey Team! Shanay competed in Cape Town against Namibia from the 7th of July to the 13th of July 2022 where South Africa won every match in the series. Shanay was the only B-League player selected for the SA team for the u18’s and only the second girl ever selected from Eastern Gauteng.
Shanay’s performance in hockey has been nothing short of phenomenal. This year alone, Shanay was selected to play for the Premier Hockey Women’s League. This is currently the highest league for women’s hockey – an amazing achievement at her age. She represented the JSA 1st team in the Premier League playing against the likes of Tuks, Wits and Pukke alongside South African players. Shanay also received a call up to the JHL Senior Women’s team who participated in a tournament in March where her team achieved the Bronze medal. Her dedication and commitment are remarkable.
In addition, Shanay was chosen as captain to represent Eastern Gauteng U18A in the National tournament in Boland, Cape Town that was held in Stellenbosch from 25 June – 1 July 2022. And to top it off, Shanay is now playing for the South African Schools u18A Team! Shanay De Klerk’s name is fast becoming well known in SA Hockey. Edenvale High School is proud to have Shanay De Klerk serve as Deputy Head Girl of the school. We wish Shanay all the best as she continues to excel in elite and prestigious teams. Her remarkable skill and talent shows a bright future for her in South African Hockey.
