The JSE-listed independent school group, Curro Holdings, is delighted to announce the appointment of Derick Visser as the new Head of their Durbanville Primary School. Mr. Visser, who holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Business Studies and Life Orientation as well as a Bachelor of Education Honours Degree in Educational Leadership and Management, is no stranger to staff, learners and the wider Durbanville community. He brings with him strong teaching experience for grades six and seven, coupled with eight years of experience teaching economic management science, natural science and geography and three years as a senior phase head. His sporting contributions include rugby coaching and refereeing for the Western Province Union, with four years of coaching in rugby and cricket at the under nine and eleven levels.
Speaking of his appointment, Mr Visser said “I am extremely excited about this new chapter and challenge. I have been a part of the Curro family for over 16 years and am looking forward to leading the group’s oldest school to even better heights. I am especially keen to rekindle relationships between the school and the community to build a culture where our parents cannot wait to see what our next adventure is,” he says.
Shaun McMurtry, Business Executive at Curro Holdings also comments “Derick is a well-rounded achiever and identifies closely with the levels of excellence that our parents and learners at Curro Durbanville have come to expect. We believe that he will make a substantial contribution to the primary school as it embarks on the next phase of its development and growth.” Mr. Visser will begin his new role on 1 August 2022
