St Benedict School performs in horse riding
Baphiwe Mkhize is a Grade 2 pupil at St Benedict School in Pinetown who is passionate about horses. She has been riding and training since the age of 4 years at Jo-Jo’s Riding Centre in Summerveld. The various riding centres periodically host Training Shows for the riders to showcase their show-jumping skills and compete against each other. At these shows there are various categories which cater for all levels of riders.

On 24 April Baphiwe participated in a show hosted by her Riding Center, riding on Nemo. She was entered in two classes and managed to achieve clear rounds in both (meaning that no poles were knocked off by her pony when jumping) and also for being able to control her horse to ensure that it went over all the jumps in the correct order. For this achievement she received 2 rosettes.
Baphiwe loves her training and spending time around horses and is hoping to compete in big competitions in future.
