Graeme College Community outreach project
On Friday, 29 October, the Community Outreach Portfolio boys held a collection at Pick ‘n Pay for their term project “Lilly’s Home”. They collected R1 600 from the Grahamstown community. These funds were used to purchase items for the babies home. There was also a raffle and the winner of the raffle for “Lilly’s Home” – Advocate Willem Olivier. His prize was R500 worth of dry wors. The raffle for Lilly’s home collected R6000! These funds were used to purchase the following items for the babies home namely: washing powder, Staysoft, dishwashing liquid, domestos, handy Andy, wet wipes, baby bum cream, baby head to toe wash, baby powder, baby earbuds and cotton wool balls-all items essential for the running of the babies home.
We would like to thank the Graeme College Community for supporting this drive. In particular, the grade 1, 2, 3 and 4 boys were absolutely outstanding! One thing remains the same: you would have to travel far and wide to find bigger hearts than the Graeme family. In addition to the above we also purchased soft toys for the babies cots, jik, and bath oil. We would like to thank the staff at P.J. Olivier for supporting the raffle and for donating a box of clothing for the babies home. Megan Hartley-Coombs of Victoria Girls’ High also donated a box of clothing for the home. Lilly White kindly donated the clothing she has outgrown to the home. Most of the clothing was given to Lilly by the staff of Graeme College. Thank you, Dr Gush for donating a snug and safe to “Lilly’s Home” and clothing for the babies. A big thank you too to Mrs Liz Manning for driving us.
